Today I went to Asakusa for the first time … since I am a Tokyoite, I’ve never been to there;)
But it was the best place to find out “Japanese” souvenirs!
Honestly, I really enjoyed!
So let me share my Asakusa experience with you.
1. How to get to Senso-ji
First, get off the Ginza line at Asakusa station.
The nearist exit to Senso-ji temple is Exit 1.
So many people are walking to the exit 1 so you’ll never miss it.
When you reached the aboveground, turn right.
Soon you will find the famous “Kaminari-mon” gate.
There are so many rickshaws in front of the Kaminari-mon gate so it’s worth trying.
Also there are some Kimono rental shops so try it if you want.
Anyway, today’s my destination was Senso-ji temple, so I went ahead.
Passed through the Kaminari-mon gate, you will see the “Nakamise” street.
This is the best shopping place in Tokyo (especially for buying souvenirs).
You can buy
Kimonos
Ninja costumes
Chopstics
Japanese fan
Tenugui (Japanese hand towel)
T-shirts
Snacks (Ningyo-yaki)
Anything you want!
I’ve tried Matcha-flavored soft-serve ice cream wrapped with the Dorayaki pancake at Umezono.
This was nice.
And this is Senso-ji.

After you made a short prayer,
you can try Omikuji (Fortune Paper)
or buy Omamori (Japanese amulets)

2. River Cruise
Also you can enjoy the river cruise from Asakusa.

3. Nightlife
If you want to mingle with the local rock bands,
I STRONGLY recommend to visit Asakusa Gold Sounds.
I’m going to have my show on 21st Nov. 2017 (Tuesday) at Asakusa Gold Sounds.
So if you have a plan to visit Asakusa,
you should definitely come to my show;)
It takes about 9min by foot (600m walk) from Kaminari-mon.
You can walk straight ahead with your back against Kaminari-mon.
